Training Facilites (Long Term):

‘Sadanam conducts Diploma courses (recognized by the Government of Kerala) in the old traditional way - the gurukula system. 

• Kathakali Vesham (Dance)  (6 + 2 years course)

• Kathakali Music Vocal     (6 + 2 years course)

• Kathakali Chenda (Traditional drum; Orchestra; 4+2 years course)

• Kathakali Maddalam (Traditional drum; Orchestra; 4+2 years course)

• Kathakali Chutti (Make up & Costumes 2 + 1 year course)

The trainig sessions are rigorous  and divided into four sessions.

First                    4.30 A.M. to 7 A.M.

Second                9.30 A.M. to 12.30 P.M.

Third                   3.00 P.M. to 5.30 P.M.

Fourth                 7.30 P.M. to 9.00 P.M.

Students between the ages 10 and 14 are selected for the above Courses. Uzhichil -traditional oil massaging-is given to dance students for 2-3 months in a year, during the rainy season of June-August.

Sadanam pays scholarships/stipends to most of the talented students who are selected for the Diploma courses, to meet their expenses for boarding, loading and tuition fees.

Training Facilities (short Term) :

Sadanam gives short term training in Kathakali international students as well as students from outside Kerala.  A number of international students have successfully completed their training in Sadanam at different points of time. Several of these students availed scholarships from their native countries for their training in Kathakali. We have convenient, comfortable and affordable boarding and lodging facilities for such short term students. Special tutors are appointed for those students who desire to have intensive short term course.

The best season for short term training course is between August and December.
